After reading biographies about two other founding fathers, I was struck by the observation that they both had very opposing views on nearly every issue, yet each of them wrote so highly (extraordinarily so) about George Washington in their journals and correspondence. It made me wonder, "How did one man manage to earn such devout respect and support from two people who were so diametrically opposed on everything else?"Connell ultimately answered my question; Washington's wisdom and respect were cultivated by his close relationship to "Kind Providence."Connell examines Washington's influences, his daily routines and prayers, his principles, and many of his experiences that likely shaped his leadership abilities. It includes a documented story of a prophecy foretold over his life by a native American leader that later proved to be true and an apparition by Mary that included three prophecies (two of which have proven true, third is still pending the passage of time).This is a unique book to read; the topic does not lend itself to a chronology of Washington's life. Instead, it is organized primarily by "spiritual themes," which is entirely appropriate for the topic. I probably would have understood more if I was more familiar with specific situations and battles referenced in the book. But, nonetheless, I gleaned a much greater appreciation for our First President and gained much personal wisdom, too.Thank you to Ms. Connell for her work in compiling this important reflection. In my dream I saw a Pastor going church to church and prompting the church to pray that God send us the "ability" that George walked in for leadership and character for new leadership in America.George was a very religious man and worked very hard for piety. This book gave the reported 3 visions George had concerning the prophetic trials America would endure in its future. If you looking for a book that gives basic details on his piety I feel this book is a great starter. This book was a great compliment to the dream I had about needing character like he demonstrated again in our government.
